A lovely “chocolate box” thatched cottage built in the Elizabethan period and dating to approximately 1550. Offering a wealth of beautiful period features but with well-equipped modern amenities, this accommodation in its charming rural secluded setting is an ideal location to relax and unwind.
The Old Thatched Cottage is nestled in eight acres of private ground in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the Lyn Valley, and is surrounded by farmland with lots of footpaths. Ideally located, with the local train station just a ten-minute walk, it is just an hour and 20minutes from London.
The local village is well catered with many pubs, co-op, post office and Chinese and Fish and chip restaurants, pharmacy, veterinary surgery, stables and gift shop, all within easy walking distance.
Close to both historic Faversham and Canterbury and the popular seaside town of Whitstable, all accessible by train and car.
The beautiful Saxon Shoreline on the Medway Estuary is only 2 miles away and offers some stunning walking, cycle paths and amazing bird watching, there is lots to do during your stay!
There is a large secure garden surrounding the entire property, with flower beds and lawn, approx. 1 I/2 acres. The remaining land comprises of cherry orchards and paddocks. There is ample off-road parking.
The property also boasts a hot tub for five people on a spacious deck overlooking the large carp pond (fenced for the safety of little people). Next to this stands a large summer house with a log burning stove, TV and music system, Sky, Wi-Fi etc. There is a BBQ area with alfresco dinning for 8 people and a seating area with fire pit for those cosy, peaceful endings to the day.
For larger parties or group accommodation you can combine the other holiday cottages in the grounds sleeping a total of 16.
Dogs are welcome as long as they behave themselves and there is good mobile coverage at The Old Thatch and Wi fi is connected.
This is a lovely family holiday house in Kent with space and light, and lots of activities to do right on your doorstep and yet within easy reach of all that Kent has to offer – not to mention both France and London within an hour!
